The SP Automotive Chaos is the world’s first “ultracar”, according to its builders. If it proceeds with production, it will be more powerful than any other car — which is no easy feat.

Limited to only 100 units worldwide with prices starting at US$6.3 million for just the base variant. A full top-of-the-line model comes with 3,000 horsepower (hp) with a hefty price tag of over US$14 million. The base model has 2,000hp.

The base model is named “Earth Version”, while the souped-up model is called “Zero Gravity”.

To put into perspective, the Bugatti Chiron has 1,577hp, the SSC Tuatara has 1,750hp and the world’s fastest accelerating car, the Rimac Nevera has just 1,888hp.

CEO of SP Automotive, Spyro Panopoulos, has said that the “ultracar” should be able to reach 60 miles per hour in 1.8 seconds, and has a maximum speed of 300 miles per hour. This would make it one of the fastest cars in the world.

No doubt, the Chaos looks fast even when stationary. The unique angles and edges on the car give it a contemporary look befitting a car as fast as it says it is. SP Automotives has said it has sold one unit but has not disclosed the price.

Elsewhere in the motoring world, the aforementioned Bugatti Chiron only has 40 build slots left out of the 500 released. The Chiron first debuted in 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show, and in a mere 18 months, it had sold 300 units. The hypercar boasts an 8.0-litre W16 engine and a top speed of 261 miles per hour.
