Exclusive: Cannabis Ice Cream Is Coming – Here’s How You Can Get It

Food & Drink

Sure you’ve seen cannabis gummies, chocolate bars, and even wine — but how about cannabis ice cream?

Boston-based ice cream brand Emack & Bolio’s has partnered with the multi-state cannabis operator MariMed to do just that. The two companies are announcing today plans to collaborate on a new lineup of cannabis-infused vegan and dairy ice cream in “outrageous flavors.”

While what exactly those outrageous flavors will be is still under wraps, the duo does know the ice cream will contain the same full spectrum of natural cannabinoids and terpines from whole plants as are used in MariMed’s award-winning brands, such as Betty’s Eddies and K Fusion.

“For years, consumers have been asking for the pairing of cannabis and ice cream,” Ryan Crandall, SVP/Chief Sales & Products Officer at MariMed told Forbes. “The opportunity to collaborate with a legendary ice cream expert like Emack & Bolio’s made this an easy decision for us. We know consumers are going to love the outrageous flavors and formulas we will introduce together.

Rather than just adding cannabis to ice cream, Carndall says that the treat will be made by infusing some of the company’s highest quality concentrates into one of the core ice cream ingredients prior to freezing

“We’ve taken great care to grow MariMed infused products to become top-selling brands, with much of our success the result of a craft-like approach to cultivation that is unlike most other national cannabis companies,” MariMed CEO and President Bob Fireman said in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to bring our unique formulations and technologies to a collaboration with a brand partner like Emack & Bolio’s, which has such a fantastic history.”

As for that history, Emack & Bolio’s was founded in 1975 by Boston music attorney Bob Rook as a place for his rock star clients to satisfy their midnight munchies after their late-night gigs. Aerosmith, Boston, U2, James Brown and The Cars were some of the groups Rook worked with back in the day

When it comes to when you can get your hands on a pint, that is still a little bit up in the air. The company says it plans to debut the lineup initially in Massachusetts later this year, afterwards we might see it pop up in other legal cannabis states as well.
